CM of khyber pakhtunekhawa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti
said to media on 10th april 2011 that finishing of HEC
would not affect foreign scholarships and agreements signed between
Pakistani and foreign universities.
Talking to journalists after administering oath to newly elected
office-bearers of Mardan Press Club, he said that government would take
vcs of all universities into confidence before taking any step
for devolution of HEC.
He said that he had held a detailed meeting with vice-chancellors of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa universities two days ago in a
very conducive environment and asked them to send their recommendations
within 15 days to provincial gov-ernment about HEC devolution.
The oath taking ceremony was held at Chief Minister House in Mardan.
“We will not take any step regarding HEC devolution to harm the autonomy of
universities,” Mr Hoti said, adding that federal and provincial governments
had planed to replace HEC with another body with slight amendments.
To a query about reopening of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case, he said that
judiciary was independent in the country and everyone had a right to move a
court for seeking justice.
He was of the opinion that PPP-led federal government wanted to take
advantage of independence of judiciary to correct a historical mistake.
The chief minister said that hidden hands were responsible for
deteriorating law and order situations of Karachi as the city was a
financial hub of the country and the said elements did not want Pakistan to
become financially strong.
