Punjab Government Announces To Reopen Primary, Middle Schools and Universities From 1st February

Punjab government has issued the notification regarding the reopening of primary, middle schools, and universities from1st February 2021. The decision was made earlier by the national command and operation center by monitoring the situation of the coronavirus pandemic. The Punjab education minister, Murad Raas took his Twitter and shared the details about the reopening of the educational institutes. It has been stated that there will be strict implementation of SOPs in all the institutes. According to the notification it has been announced that the students will come into the educational institutes on alternate days. 

As the schools, universities, and colleges of Pakistan remain closed for an extended time period and federal minister for education and professional training stated that this year's annual SSC and HSSC exams will be held in May/June. All the public schools have been directed to continue the accelerated learning program (ALP). Moreover, the Punjab examination commission will announce the assessment criteria and examination schedule of class 5th and 8th for the students. The school education department had earlier issued the SOPs for all educational institutes in Pakistan in consultation with the primary & secondary healthcare department. 

The meeting of the national command and operation center was held on 16th January 2021 to review the ongoing situation of COVID-19 and to decide the reopening of institutes across Pakistan. Amid the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, the educational institutes had been shut down from 26th November 2021. Previously the academic activities had been resumed for grades 9 to 12 after the two-month break. In the previous year, the annual exams of matric and intermediate could not be conducted and the students got promoted without exams. But this year the government has decided not to promote the students and they have to appear in the board exams. The middle and primary schools and universities were earlier decided to reopen on 25th January 2021 and now will be reopened from 1st February 2021.
