Government To Enforce Uniform Curriculum Across Pakistan

The government has announced to enforce the uniform curriculum across the country. The preparations are underway and the single national curriculum will be implemented soon. According to the sources, the education minister has issued the directives to publish the textbooks according to the newly devised syllabus approved by the authorities. Among all the provinces, only the Sindh education minister has opposed this decision. As per Saeed Ghani, the syllabus taught in the educational institutes in the Sindh is already updated so there is no to implement the new curriculum. In this regard, the federal education minister said that no school or seminary will be allowed to study their own curriculum after the implementation of the Single National Curriculum as SNC complies with modern standards. 

Single National Curriculum

The Punjab education minister has said that the authorities have taken all the stakeholders into confidence over this matter so no one can raise the concerns afterward. The SNC will be introduced after addressing the reservations as it is necessary to satisfy the queries of all the provincial governments over the uniform syllabus. Previously in March the prime minister of Pakistan had announced to implement the single national curriculum across the country. The main reason is to provide the equal opportunities to all the students of the English medium schools, Urdu medium schools, and seminaries. The subjects of Mathematics and Science will be taught in English and while the other books will be published in Urdu

Implementation of Uniform Syllabus

The federal education minister said that the newly prepared curriculum will be implemented at the primary level from March 2021, from 6th to 8th class by March 2022. While for the class 9th to 12th the syllabus will be finalized in 2022 and implemented in March 2023. Currently, due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the educational institutes will remain closed till 10th January. So the education ministry has not decided the date of the new academic session yet. But whether the session will commence in April or August the uniform syllabus will be introduced as per the plan approved by the government.
