PMC Announces Important Policy Decision Regarding Post Graduate Qualifications
Pakistan medical commission has announced an important policy decision regarding postgraduate qualifications. As per the announcement of PMC, post-qualification refers to the qualification acquired after the completion of a structured program by the guidance and supervision of a designated professor. Furthermore, it has been also mentioned that the supervisor must meet the criteria provided by the medical commission.
Pakistani Postgraduate Qualification
A post-qualification shall be recognized by the council subject to the fulfillment of the following mentioned conditions.
- The qualification should have been provided to the candidates by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP)
- Training must be undertaken at a medical institution that should be recognized by the Council for training as per the Pakistan medical commission Act, 2020-Section 23(2).
Foreign Postgraduate Qualification
A foreign post qualification shall be recognized by the council subject to the fulfillment of the following mentioned conditions.
- The qualification should have been granted by the foreign institute affiliated with the council under Section 25 of the PMC Act, 2020, and must be recognized by the regulatory authority in the relevant country.
- The qualification must have been acquired after fulfilling the academic requirements and the training period must be equivalent to a comparable qualification granted by CPSP.
The PMC also defined the process of credentialing and details of the Specialist Register and explained their significance and also the other information that must be known by all the candidates. Besides this the medical commission has made other announcements as well about the additional qualifications, alternative qualifications, and continuing professional education (CPE) and notified the candidates to must follow the guidelines provided by the medical commission in this regard.
Reminder For Private Colleges Admissions
Earlier the Pakistan medical commission had extended the closing date for the submission of application forms to the private colleges. The last date to apply for private colleges is 22nd January 2021. Applicants are advised to submit their applications through the national admission portal before the deadline.
