Allama Iqbal Open University AIOU Islamabad
Allama Iqbal Open University, commonly known as AIOU, is a Public-sector university of Pakistan that holds the title of being the 4th largest university that offers higher education. With a motto of “Education for All” the AIOU has been working for more than 4 decades to provide distant learning to the students of Pakistan who cannot afford to pay the fee of private institutions. To provide seamless education to all the citizens of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal Open University has set up several regional campuses throughout Pakistan. AIOU also holds the title of being the first open university of Asia.

One of the best things about AIOU is that it’s inclusive of students of all levels. Allama Iqbal Open University offers programs from secondary school level to doctorate level. Students can get enrolled in the matriculation level and go up to the doctorate level all from one institution. Some students choose AIOU for their higher secondary school certificate and leave the university after they get complete their 12 years education. However, thousands of students who have completed their HSSC level education from places other than AIOU join bachelors programs at AIOU to continue their higher studies. All of the programs that are offered at AIOU are recognized by HEC and have great recognition on the international level. No local or foreign institution denies admission to the graduates of AIOU provided that they comply with the merit criteria. Apart from the degree programs that are meant to provide higher education, the AIOU has also been offering Non-credit/certificate courses to those people who don’t hold any formal degree. These diplomas enable thousands of people to earn and start professional life. The Allama Iqbal Open University also offers post-graduate diplomas to enable dropout or continuing students to continue their higher studies.
